A little dirty but so funny!!

Cover of the book, I hope they serve beer in hell

This book may not be for the faint of heart but it is well worth the read.   I literally had moments of of laugh out loud laughter throughout this book and I will be honest, I don’t break the social norm of quietly laughing in my head that often.  But take my word on this, this has some hilarious stories in it, oh my.

It is a collection of short story supposedly from the author’s life which pretty much paint him as one of the biggest male chauvinists the world has ever known.   He is cruel, but in the cruelness this is where the hilarity begins.  So if you are looking for a great short stories and you don’t mind a little crudeness… Bingo!

Enough time has passed so I will say that the “Kite Runner” is a good book

Kite Runner

I kind of get put off when books get famous from things like Oprah Book Club because I fear that people will agree with the collective opinion instead of their own personal opinion.   I will admit that I read it during the fad but have waited until now to vocalize it.  Though it was during the height of it’s popularity, to it’s credit I read the whole book on a flight from Europe and usually… I get bored.

The book is very well written and help you think of the world in a way you normally wouldn’t.   The character development is strong and by the end of the book, you have strong feelings for them.   The book does get a little graphic so I would forewarn anyone who read it but well worth the read.

Sit back and read a classic

wuthering heights

We love to get caught up in whatever new best seller is on the New York Times list, but don’t forget there are so many classics that you may not of read that are guaranteed to be great.   I would even call them Timeless, if I am too be so bold.  Books like Wuthering Heights, I have read at least a few times and I don’t get tired of it.

So next time you are shopping for books online or at the bookstore, hit the classics aisle and pick up one of them that you have read yet and join the group of countless people who over the centuries have enjoyed them too.

The movie only makes the book even better

Fantastic Mr. FoxI don’t know what it is but I love everything that Roald Dahl does.   His works may be odd but they pull me in.   And when his intended audience is supposed to be children and he can hold my attention as well, you know that the book is a classic.

I like to see books like this get made into movies, especially to the quality I felt that this movie did.   I was fun that a few of the scenes from when I originally read the book, seemed to transfer almost directly on the screen.

Greatest Networking Book Ever…. No Joke

Never Eat Alone Book

If you are like me, you are not a big fan of the self-help, preachy style of book that feels like it has all of life’s answer.   I just lose my attention span somewhere in the first or second chapter and thus, these books are the first ones that I trade away.   This is not one of those books, actually far from it.

I am in love with this book.   I have actually bought it for a few of my closest friends.   What the author talks about, I have now started using it in my life.  It’s not earth-shattering ideas you have never thought of, but he just looks at your relationship from another point of views and show where you could get more out of them, then you thought you could.   This book is great, and I am love with it, check it out!

What is classic literature without zombies in it.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

I am not saying that is improves on the original version of this classic work but it definitely has gotten the world more interested in it since the last movie remake.   You have to give it to Seth Grahame-Smith, his style of writing is new and inventive.

The way he has rewritten this book is to add more to the story where Jane Austin left openings.   Where the original book would have ended the chapter on the family sitting at the dinner table, Seth has taken to liberty to spice it up with things like a zombie ambush and make the Bennett sisters defend their home.

If this sounds interesting to you, also look into Sense and Sensibility and Sea-monsters and Abraham Lincoln – Vampire Hunter.

One Ring to Rule them All!

As Sauron rules all with the rings, J.R.R. Tolkien is the king of the fantasy realm.  You would be hard to find a fantasy series created after he released this amazing series that doesn’t mimic some part of the world he created.  He was such a visionary in his imaginary world that it is hard to think outside of it’s realm.

I have personally read this series at least 5 or 6 times.   I have talks over this fantasy universe with Phds and with hippies, this book has a little something for everything. Go buy this book  series if you have never read it.  If you have read it, read it again, you won’t regret it!

Jim Morrison is Absolutely Alive… Now, this gets me thinking!

Have you ever thought someone that you knew may have been someone famous earlier in their lives?   Even someone as big as Jim Morrison?   Richard Rossberg talent has unlocked a world where a man he meets at a bar and later befriends could be the famous singer after faking his death.

This novel has a wonderful way of painting a lifestyle off of the beaten path where someone would go to escape from their past and try to find solace in.   Whether this man is the famed singer or not, this book captures your heart and mind on its journey.

Well worth the money for the great book!  If you have more interest, check out it’s page.  Jim Morrison is Absolutely Alive

What?!?! You did what to the main character so far in the book

Oh George R.R. Martin… how you mess with my mind.    If you haven’t heard of the book series, you are seriously missing out.   What I like about this series is that no character in this book is safe from harm.   And this is also not little things, like a character get captured and get released later in the book.  No, in this series, your main characters can get lose body parts or even their lives and the book won’t be even close to ending.

I read the first three books of this series over the holiday break and boy, was it an exciting read.   It is really nice to have the change in knowing that no one is safe and that the story isn’t going to play out as every other book you have ever read.  Definitely check this out!!!

If you don’t know what that phrase means then you are missing out and you need to change that. This phrase comes from one of my favorite books of all time, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” by Douglas Adams. I can guarantee it will be one of the most unique books that you will ever read and fall in love with.

The wandering of path that the book takes will continue to keep your mind guessing what happens next, through all 5 of the sub books that combine to make this amazing story.   I just caught myself laughing to myself as I write this because I am remembering how great this book is.   I think I am going to start reading it again.
